An uptrend 152 bars old: the header reads TREND ▲, two resume shelves sit on price under the pullbacks they closed, and each pullback is filled as a pocket below the center line.

Chart pictures are illustrations of the software, not a performance record. Futures trading carries substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for every investor, and hypothetical or simulated results have inherent limitations that may differ materially from live trading. Risk disclosures.

Why you need it

A pullback trade needs three answers in a row — is there a trend, is this a pullback inside it or the end of it, and has the pullback finished — and most panels give one of them. DS ProTrendRange gives all three on one scale: a thick TREND line for the tide, a thin SWING line for the wave, a filled pocket while the wave runs against the tide, and one signal, the RESUME, on the bar the pocket closes. When there is no tide to trade with, it says RANGING and draws the range the market is working instead.

What the panel reads

One measurement taken over two lengths, on one statistical scale — a thick TREND line for the tide, a thin SWING line for the wave — with the pullback filled as a pocket and one closed-bar signal, the RESUME, on the bar the pocket closes.

  1. 01TREND latches on at one sigma and stays on until the close crosses its own average — a state, not a line that flickers
  2. 02PULLBACK fills as a pocket in the trend's own color; RANGING steps the panel back to neutral and draws the range's two rails on price
  3. 03RESUME — one per leg, confirmed on the next close, graded PRIME, STANDARD or MINOR
  4. 04Every resume is drawn on price as a shelf at its HOLD level: the pullback's own extreme, the price that says it did not hold

Where it runs

Any market NinjaTrader charts

  • Futures — runs on it
  • Stocks — runs on it
  • Forex — runs on it
  • Crypto — runs on it

Reads price only. Both of its readings sit on one statistical scale, so one sigma is the same reading on every instrument, timeframe and bar type.

What it reads

Price only (closed bars). No volume, no tick data.

Good to know

One sigma is one sigma on every instrument, timeframe and bar type, so there is no threshold to tune. It reads the state of the market and marks a precisely defined event — it is not a forecast. The panel's Y-axis locks, so a chart drag can never push the reading off its own scale.

Closed-bar decisions throughout — it does not repaint.

Test it on your own charts first.

Four screenshots and a paragraph are not enough to judge an indicator on. Watch it work in your own instrument, on your own timeframe, before it goes anywhere near a live account. Both ways of doing that are free.

  1. 01

Replay a session you have already seen

Market Replay runs a past session back tick by tick, at whatever speed you like. You get to watch DS ProTrendRange print in conditions you remember, and pause on the bars where it mattered.

  2. 02

Then trade it forward, on the simulator

Replay shows you the past with the ending already known. The simulator does not — it runs live, in real time, on real prices, with nothing at stake. That is where you find out whether you can actually act on what you are seeing.

A simulated fill is not a live fill. Replay and the simulator cannot reproduce real queue position, slippage, or what it feels like to hold a position with money on it, and results from either may differ materially from live trading. Test to learn how a tool behaves — not to estimate what it might return.

See it work

DS ProTrendRange, moment by moment

The conditions DS ProTrendRange is built for, drawn by its shipped rules. Scroll and scale it like a chart, replay it bar by bar, jump between its moments, or switch the chart to light.

DS Replay examples are illustrative: each scenario is composed for the example from recorded one-minute futures candles, to show the conditions a tool is built for, and is not a recording of a trading session. The tool drawing on it runs its shipped rules unchanged. They show how the software reads price; they are not a performance record, no trade is taken or shown, and live markets often behave differently. Futures trading carries substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for every investor, and hypothetical or simulated results have inherent limitations that may differ materially from live trading.
